Hedgerows are vital wildlife corridors. They allow hedgehogs and many other species to move safely between feeding and nesting areas.
- Avoid removing hedgerows where possible
- Plant new native hedgerows if you have space

Create Hedgehog Highways
Hedgehogs roam up to a mile each night in search of food. Fences can trap them in or block their routes.
A simple 13 cm x 13 cm hole at the base of your fence creates a safe passageway. If neighbours join in, you can create a whole network of hedgehog-friendly routes.
Build or Install a Hedgehog Habitat
You can:
- Buy a hedgehog house
- Build your own using untreated wood
- Create a natural shelter using logs, leaves, and branches
