No Mow May

Join No Mow May in Walkern!

This spring, Wilder Walkern is taking part in No Mow May, a national campaign by Plantlife that encourages everyone to put the lawnmower away for the month of May and let nature flourish. It’s a simple action with a big impact.

What Is No Mow May?

No Mow May is all about giving your lawn a break. By not mowing for just one month, you allow wildflowers and grasses to grow, providing essential nectar and shelter for bees, butterflies, beetles, and other wildlife. With so many natural habitats disappearing, our gardens and green spaces have become vital lifelines for pollinators.

Even a small patch of unmown grass can help boost biodiversity and support the species that keep our ecosystems healthy.

Why Take Part?

  • Helps pollinators find food early in the season
  • Encourages wildflowers to return
  • Supports birds and insects
  • Reduces carbon emissions from mowing
  • Saves you time and effort

It’s a win for nature and a win for you.

How to Get Involved

Taking part is easy:

  • Skip mowing your lawn throughout May
  • Let wildflowers and grasses grow naturally
  • Download a free No Mow May poster to show you’re joining in
  • Try fun activities like No Mow May Bingo to see what wildlife appears
