Important update for anyone who feeds garden birds

The RSPB has released new guidance (April 2026) that marks a major shift in how we support our garden wildlife. To help curb the spread of diseases such as trichomonosis, they are now advising against feeding peanuts and seed between May and October.

This change is based on growing evidence that warm‑weather feeding stations can become hotspots for infection, especially when birds gather in large numbers.

If you regularly feed birds, it’s worth taking a moment to read the full guidance and consider how you can adapt your setup to keep local wildlife safe: https://www.rspb.org.uk/whats-happening/news/how-to-help-garden-birds

Small changes can make a big difference to the health of our garden visitors.
