Our next special guest speaker MP Chris Hinchliff
Wilder Walkern is delighted to announce the next event in our ongoing programme of nature and environmental talks. Our Member of Parliament, Chris Hinchliff, will be joining us on 11 June at 7:30pm at the WSCC to share insights from his career in environmental policy and his work in Parliament.
Before entering Parliament, Chris served as Policy and Campaigns Officer for the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), where he focused on safeguarding landscapes, strengthening planning protections, and championing the value of rural spaces. His background in environmental advocacy has continued to shape his priorities since taking office.
In Westminster, Chris has established himself as a vocal advocate for nature, contributing to debates and inquiries on biodiversity, land use, and environmental governance. He has been particularly associated with the Red Lines for Nature campaign, which calls for stronger safeguards to ensure that environmental protections are not weakened during legislative or policy changes.
Chris also serves on the Environmental Audit Committee, a cross‑party group that scrutinises the government’s environmental performance and the long‑term sustainability of its policies. His role on the committee places him at the heart of discussions on climate resilience, pollution, conservation, and the UK’s progress toward environmental targets. Attendees can expect valuable insights into how environmental issues are being addressed at a national level, and how local communities like Walkern can play a part in shaping the future.
